Very cold. Icy in places this morning. Most areas cloudy. Widespread, locally severe frost this morning in the south. Generally a very cold day with a little light rain and snow in places, along with icy stretches on some roads. Most places cloudy, although some sunshine here and there. Most of England, Wales, Northern Ireland and southern and eastern Scotland, dry, cold and misty with a widespread frost, and also some fog patches. Northwestern Scotland, milder with patchy rain. Most parts will start cold and misty and there will be fog in places. However, as the day progresses many areas will brighten up. Northwestern Scotland, milder and mainly cloudy. 
Severe Weather WarningFLASH WARNING of WIDESPREAD ICY ROADSKent (Severe), Medway (Severe) Issued by the Met Office at 03:33 on Wednesday, 07th January 2009. Outbreaks of sleet and snow will lead to widespread ice on roads and pavements across the county. Up to 1 centimetre of snow may accumulate in places. The public are advised to take extra care and refer to the 'Highways Agency' for further advice on traffic disruption on motorways and trunk roads.
